What's a V-4? It's a very minor change. The four screws that attach the fulcrum plate and drop plates (some say shims) to the top plate have changed from countersunk screw heads to button heads.
Why? Well, over the years on rare occasion customers have expressed the desire to use the Descendant with zero drop plates installed, but with the countersunk screws one needed to have at least one drop plate installed in order to firmly secure the fulcrum plate. I figured, it's called the Descendant, why would anyone want to buy it if they didn't want their strings to descend? But after speaking with a builder friend of mine who expressed a similar desire, as occasionally he'd build a guitar where the neck angle was such that he couldn't use the Descendant, I reconsidered. In his case it was about his own brand continuity. That's when the lightbulb went off in my head. There was no functional reason for flat head screws on the Descendant as the screws are not in line with the string path, I simply went with the look at the time. Now I see the justification for change.
To facilitate this change, I had to run the top plates with smaller holes for the fulcrum mount as well as smaller holes for the drop plates. I went ahead and countersunk the spring screw hole, just for kicks.
So now there are 3 levels of adjustment. Vintage height, depth 1 and depth 2.
Otherwise, this is the same as a 2024 spec. which featured an increased pitch range to match the down-bend and up-pull of vintage units.
